Charging a small submission fee also helps to reduce unserious or spam submissions. On average, free-to-submit platforms can receive upwards of 3,000–5,000 submissions per month, many of which are not relevant or carefully considered and a huge waste of resources and time. By applying a modest fee, which is vital for the continued running of Dark Poets Club, we are also able to focus on serious, passionate writers while ensuring a fair review process for every piece received.
