For those who fear the Eternity of Never,
Are the Oceans of Regret your heart’s sorrow?
That your guilt will outweigh your feather
When your judgement comes on the morrow?
Is that why your eyes already look like they’re dead?
Counting the few remaining moments of dread?
Fleeting indulgences before Karma comes to bear,
Like your fate hanging from a thread?
Begging for time is a comical delusion…
Resuscitation a minor reprieve.
There is no CPR or basic first aid
To delay the sentence you’ll receive.
For those waiting in the Eternity of Never,
I’ve seen your emissaries others mistake for shadows.
They sent exquisite dreams that I prayed would last forever.
I listened to their lullabies and laughter and prose…
So, I know there’s something out there that awaits me
And neither Heaven, Purgatory nor Hell call my name.
I have long since grown past the archaic fear
And brainwashing that preached “live in fear and shame.”
So please, no more dancing and playing around my bed
Or your constant reminders that I’ll never be lonely.
You have my word I’ll remember your whispers and warnings
And control myself in all things and be vigilant if only
I had all your wisdom when youth was a blessing,
When ignorance was bliss and things weren’t always stressing.
For those envious from the Eternity of Never,
Don’t look for any wanting in the words that I chose.
I have no wish or need to rush your embrace,
Despite all the tedious ramblings of those
Who would take up the Hemlock to silence the screams
Of a lifetime of betrayals and unfulfilled dreams,
Always dragging their heels and hanging their heads
Long before even getting out of their beds.
With every breath that I take, every pen put to page,
Every beat of my head against the wall…
I dedicate my screams to the war that I wage
Against the Eternity of Never Having Been Anything at All…
