By Zoe Torsney
smashed it all he has
windows and doors
put his boot through
when his hand went dead
rolling a cigarette
between bleeding fingers
staring at this
beautiful strangeness
they will come soon
take this stillness
which always comes
only comes
afterwards.
after the music
shattering glass
after the dancing
fists and feet
music and dancing
dance with me
closing his eyes
hearing the sirens
shoved down hard
holding one wrist up
while the angels
rage around him
in the blue lights
and the demon
takes another drag
from his good hand
