MADDISON O'DONNELL
Maddison O’Donnell is a writer based in Galway, Ireland whose work explores themes of discomfort, solitude, loss, and in-betweenness, often through a lens of dark humour.
“I am honoured to have won the Dark Poets Prize and feel deeply grateful that such a competition exists. As an admirer of all things dark and spooky, I’m over the moon that my work has not only found a home within the Dark Poets Club, but also great company in its talented community of writers.
Exploring darker concepts through writing has always felt natural to me. Writers are unique in that we generally make good use of being haunted by something – sometimes incessantly – until we finally exorcise it onto the page. I endeavour to keep capturing these little hauntings in the hope that others, too, will take the opportunity to wave their pens at things that go bump in the night.”
Congratulations to all the incredible poets that participated and to those who made it onto our 'Honourable Mentions' list who's stunning work has also been selected for publication on Dark Poets Club, (you will be contacted in due course). If you are not of the list below, unfortunately you weren't successful on this occasion:
